From Radio Silence to Chatty Man

Apologies for the lack of communication - we've had some internet issues on the road and getting messages back home has been sporadic.

The challenge got off to a very wet start. Delayed by 24 hours due to heavy thunderstorms, we set off on Saturday. Stari Grad was still gripped by Thunderstorms but thankfully services had resumed and we were able to set off.

We cycled through torrential rain showers in Split in the morning and reached Primosten around 4.30pm local time.

The first leg was behind us as we reached our campsite at Primosten on the coast 50 miles north of Split and I enjoyed a swim with Lotte in the Adriatic in the afternoon. She got a nice treat for being a superstar.

The next 60 mile stretch on Sunday took us to Sakosan. The cycling has been fine but the weather is now quite hot - apologies to those of you stuck in rainier weather.

Today we cycled from Sakosan to Karlobag. In fact, we're actually a little further than our target destination. The support vehicle went on ahead to scope out the campsite, I suffered a technical breakdown with the chain coming off the tandem.

All fixed now and pedalled furiously to catch them up but I ended up cycling 15 miles further north than intended so that's 75 miles on the clock today. A little closer to home every day.

Thank you all so much for your fantastic donations. I was over the moon to hear we'd crashed through the £2000 barrier early this morning.

My digital cheerleaders Sarah Jane, Sarah and Zoe have been doing some sterling work sharing news, tweeting, posting and promoting the cause to the media. We're adding a section to the press release page showing the press coverage which is growing all the time and thanks to some friends in high places Sarah Jane managed to persuade Alan Carr to tweet the cause. Not only that but he made an exceptionally generous donation for which I am incredibly thankful.

All donations, big and small mean so much. I'd like to give a special mention to a young lady called Imogen who made a donation and reached out to say how she understood the pain of bereavement. Imogen lost her baby son Conor last summer and I would like to dedicate tomorrow's cycle to Conor's memory. I will write a special blog post for Conor, Imogen and her family tomorrow.
